Had Too Much Fun Last Night? 5 Steps To Jump Start Your Beauty Recovery


It happens to the best of us, one after work cocktail at happy hour leads to crawling into bed at 2am. Usually for me it's when I am catching up with a close girlfriend and we get caught up in the convo before realizing it is 1am and we have had more than just a glass of wine each. Then you wake up the next day feeling oh so wonderful but have to go on with the day regardless, because going back to bed isn't an option. For times like these a good post-late night action plan is all you need to help you get back to feeling great or at least get you through the day.  Here are my 5 steps to jump start your beauty recovery after a late night.

Hydrate

I don't think I need to explain this one, H20 will be your best friend today, and likely for the next few days. Alcohol is extremely dehydrating which is why your head pounds after a few too many drinks. It also will dehydrate your skin, so one of the ways to get your skin glowing and hydrated again is to drink up... and not with whatever cocktail got you into this mess. Stick with plain water with a slice of lemon for detoxifying benefits and you will be good to go within a day or two.

Skip The Intense Workout

Working out is likely the last thing you want to do when tired, let alone hungover.  Lucky for you this is your get out of exercise for free card. That being said I would recommend a bit of activity.  A light walk or yoga class will help you on the road to recovery.  You will get those energizing endorphins going to give you a boost, plus likely feel better about your night out.  Just don't over do it, since alcohol already causes dehydration you are better off skipping the intense sweat session.

Eat

Even if you are not hungry, have more than just a cup of coffee.  Food and a little good fat will go along way in helping you recover.  Avocado toast is great to have since it is hearty enough that it will fill up your tummy without making you too full or packed with grease, which can lead to feeling even worse later.  

Pamper Yourself

If you have the time, take a quick bath, exfoliate and put on a face mask. This will help kick start the much needed hydration back into your skin. Plus, who doesn't love a little pampering, you will have an instant mood lift.

Fake It

A little makeup will help fake glowing skin but just don't over do it.  Flawless clean looking skin with bright eyes will look like you got a good nights sleep. Too much makeup on dehydrated skin will look like you didn't wash your face from the night before. So as always my beauty rule is, less is more! Beauty Tip: Fill in your waterline with a nude eyeliner, nothing gives away being tired like red-eyes so this trick will help make you look more awake in a matter of seconds.
